FAQ's

  • What services do you offer? Who are your services for?
I specialize in wellness coaching, consultation, and therapy for caregivers. My services include individual therapy, EMDR, hypnotherapy, and clinical training. I also provide consultation services to individuals, schools, non-profits, and small-to-midsize businesses. My expertise focuses on supporting K-12 educators, women healers and caregivers, and organizations aiming to create an emotionally balanced environment.
  • How do I know which service is right for me?
During an initial consultation, we’ll discuss your needs and goals to determine the best approach and tailor a solution that works for you or your organization.
  • Are your services available online or in person?
I offer both, depending on your location and preferences.
  • How do I schedule a consultation?
You can schedule a consultation through my website or by contacting me directly via email at dgilstrap@mindzennola.com
  • Do you accept insurance?
For therapy clients located in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Nevada, I accept some insurance plans. If you live in one of these states and would like to verify coverage for my services, you may check here.
  • What should I expect during the first session?
During the initial session, we’ll discuss your needs, goals, and challenges. This will help us create a personalized plan to support your journey toward wellness.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 24-hour notice for cancellations to avoid a fee. This ensures fairness and allows others to access available slots.
  • How can I contact you with further questions?
Feel free to reach out via the contact form on my website. I’m happy to answer any additional questions you may have!
  • What therapeutic approaches do you use?
I use a variety of evidence-based approaches to support my clients on their journey. I am EMDR-trained and a Registered Play Therapist with expertise in mood disorders, ADHD, and trauma. I have formal training in cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. I am also trained in clinical hypnotherapy.
  • How does EMDR therapy work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps process and heal unresolved trauma by reprocessing distressing memories, reducing emotional intensity, and fostering resilience. It’s particularly effective for managing anxiety, depression, and trauma symptoms.
  • Do you offer services for children?
I provide youth mental health consultation to caregivers and educators, offering expertise and guidance on how to address behavioral challenges, foster social-emotional growth, and create nurturing environments in early learning settings.
  • What kinds of organizations do you work with?
I collaborate with schools, non-profits, and small-to-midsize businesses to improve workplace wellness and mental health outcomes. Through consultation and training, I provide tailored support that addresses the unique needs of each organization. My services include conducting organizational wellness assessments, facilitating reflective staff retreats, and leading professional development workshops on topics such as trauma-informed care, burnout prevention, and creating neurodiversity-affirming environments. I also work closely with leadership teams to identify systemic challenges, support strategic planning for staff well-being, and develop practical action plans that foster a culture of psychological safety and inclusion. Whether it's designing self-care protocols, strengthening emotional intelligence in leadership, or offering coaching to frontline staff, my goal is to help teams feel more connected, supported, and equipped to thrive.
  • What does a landscape analysis or organizational review involve?
What does a landscape analysis or organizational review involve? A landscape analysis or organizational review is a comprehensive process I use to help schools, nonprofits, and businesses better understand the strengths, gaps, and growth opportunities related to workplace wellness and mental health. This process typically begins with a collaborative planning session to identify key goals and concerns. I then gather data through a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods—such as staff surveys, focus groups, policy reviews, and interviews with leadership or stakeholders. These tools help uncover patterns related to staff morale, communication, equity, burnout, and overall organizational climate. I analyze this information to provide a clear, strengths-based report that outlines actionable insights and strategic recommendations. These may include areas for improvement in staff support systems, trauma-informed practices, internal workflows, or inclusive leadership development. My goal is to offer a roadmap tailored to your mission and values—one that equips your organization to cultivate a healthier, more connected, and resilient work environment.
  • What training topics do you cover?
Training topics include neurodivergent-affirming practices, emotional wellness in classrooms, improving self-care and executive functioning, self-care for caregivers, and creating inclusive workplaces.
  • Do you offer workshops?
Yes, I host workshops for individuals and organizations on topics such as mindfulness, emotional resilience, new parent support, support for singles, and promoting wellness in caregiving roles.
  • What is the “Ways to Wellness Guide for Women Healers and Caregivers”?
It’s a free downloadable resource available on my website that includes wellness tips and a 7-day reflection journal designed to support women caregivers in nurturing their emotional health.
